Apple & Fall Unit Study: 16 Print-and-Go Pages for Hands-On Learning
There’s a reason apples are the unofficial mascot of fall learning: they’re cheap, they’re everywhere in September, and one bowl of them can turn into a whole week of hands-on lessons. So I made the pack I always wanted — a print-and-go Apple & Fall Unit Study that covers science, math, and literacy without you having to pull it all together yourself.

Whether you’re deep in a homeschool routine or just want a cozy afternoon of learning with your littles, this is the “open it and go” resource for apple season.
What Is A Unit Study, Anyway?
A unit study takes one theme, here, apples, and teaches lots of subjects through it. Instead of a separate science lesson, math lesson, and handwriting page that have nothing to do with each other, everything connects. Kids stay engaged because it all feels like one big, fun topic. (And you do way less prep. Win-win.)

What’s Inside The Apple Study Pack
16 print-ready pages (plus a cover), designed to be flexible — pull one page at a time or work through the whole thing over a week or two:
- Parts of an apple labeling page with a word bank
- Apple life cycle to color and put in order
- Apple taste test & graphing (red vs. green vs. yellow)
- 5 senses exploration page
- Two hands-on science experiments — sink or float, and the classic “stop the brown” test
- Math — counting, ten frames, and addition to 10
- Aa handwriting practice + an “All About Apples” writing page
- Apple & fall book list, a KWL chart, and a coloring page
- A completion certificate to celebrate a job well done
Who It’s For
It’s designed for preschool through 2nd grade, and because there’s a mix of “draw it,” “trace it,” and “write it” pages, it works beautifully for teaching multiple ages at once — which, as a mom of four, is my whole life. Little ones color and count; big kids write and run the experiments.

How we use it at our house
We grab three kinds of apples at the store, spread the pages across a few mornings, and let it lead the week.
Monday we cut one open and label the parts; another day we do the taste test and graph it; the browning experiment runs while we read an apple book on the couch.
By Friday everybody’s earned their certificate, and nobody realized how much learning just happened.
