Walt Disney World Very Merry Christmas Party

Why your family needs to go to WDW Very Merry Christmas Party

I know it seems crazy that I’m posting this now, but, people are already planning their Christmas Vacations. I wanted to make sure word got out about our vacation last year!

We were blessed enough to visit Disney World last year for the Very Merry Christmas party as part of our vacation trip!

It was the first time that we had been to Disney World around Christmas time. We had such a great time, I wanted to share with you guys how awesome the WDW Very Merry Christmas Party was!

Plus, I wanted to share with you how we travel to Florida for Just about FREE or next to NOTHING!

Bonus sharing on how we rarely pay for things around Disney and the theme parks!

For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of the Very Merry Christmas Party, this is a ticketed only event that runs from November 9th (last year) through December 22nd.

It starts in the evening and you have to have the special party ticket.

If you’re planning a trip to Florida for this party, dates usually are announced around March or April of that year and tickets are normally on sale then or not long after. So, the earlier you can book, the better! Head over to the Disney website to grab your tickets.

The general public gets kicked out early so you have the park all to yourself. We were lucky enough to go on opening night. We were told by a staff member that it was the first night and it had sold out. However, we were very surprised with the crowd- or lack there of. It was a pleasant surprise.

Fun ways to make your next Disney trip extra magical. Are you tired of the same things at Disney? Try out these fun things at Disney to transform your next Disney family trip. #disneyfan #disneyfamily #disney #magicaldisney

So, this party is an extra special celebration with Mickey for all ages. Cinderella’s castle shimmers as  Queen Elsa spreads her festive ice and snow look on the castle. Christmas music rings throughout the park, certain rides display holiday decor.

You can still see the Disney Characters, but, this time, they are dressed in their festive best outfits. You’ll find treat stations throughout the park.

SO many reasons why your family needs to go to WDW Very Merry Christmas Party for their holiday vacation. Forget all the holiday gifts, take a family trip to see the mouse and his house all dolled up for Christmas. #verymerrychristmasparty #disneyfans #disneylovers Every Disney fan needs to go!

Very Merry Christmas Party Treats

It’s an interesting take, these treat stations. They have a variety of yummy things. Sometimes you’ll get cookies, soft pretzels, Dove Chocolates or snow cones.

Some stops will have hot cocoa, holiday sparkling apple cider and Nesquik. You look for the different stations, which this year, were designated by candy canes and you can get all of your yummy treats.

There is also a premium dessert package you can purchase that also allows you to get in at 4pm. The desert party has reserved standing room only, but, each of the areas to stand at have beautiful views of Cinderella’s glistening castle and the perfect spot for the fireworks display at the end of the night.

Very Merry Christmas Party Rides

Like I said earlier, we were very blessed and didn’t have a huge crowd to deal with. We walked on SO many rides. Never in my life, have I ever walked on Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and the People Mover.

Buzz Lightyear ride was less than 10 minutes of a wait. But the big one, the Tomorrowland Raceway was like a 15 minute wait. NEVER in my life in my father’s lifetime, have we ever seen it under an hour wait. My husband had never even rode it because the wait is always so insane!

So, we anxiously hopped in that short line and enjoyed the time around the track. I think the longest line we waited in was to get dinner, LOL.

If you book early enough, you can get special tickets for dinner at Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table and The Crystal Palace. The Tomorrowland Terrace is the perfect place to watch those fireworks too.

Very Merry Christmas Parade

They have a special parade to watch and it is extra exciting. I know our daughter loved looking at all the lights and characters around.

Speaking of characters, make sure you don’t miss out on the festively decked out Disney Characters to take pictures with around the different part of the parks. There is also a spectacular holiday set of fireworks that is displayed.

Unfortunately, the majority of our crew missed it because we were in the Haunted Mansion (the 4 of us – Dave, Dad, Kevin and I walked right in with two other “mortals”- that’s it!)

But, my mom and Caroline (who slept through them- SURPRISE) got to see them! They were loud and apparently quite the display.

At Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, you can find the Club Tinsel group performing fun Christmas Carol’s and busting out some sweet dance moves. There is a fun dance party going on all night.

The kids can run in and have some fun while you munch on the treats at the station just outside the Cafe.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Souvenirs

If you have so much fun that you need a souvenir to remember your trip by. Don’t worry, throughout the park you can find different event apparel, trading pins, ornaments and even Magic Bands that are all about celebrating the holiday season.

If you know you’ll be spending some money in Disney, why not apply for the Disney Credit Card? You can get a discount with purchases over a certain amount.

Plus, you earn Disney Rewards Dollars on all purchases. You can then use those rewards for tickets and things throughout Disney properties. Check it out! We LOVE using ours.

My parents have even paid for Disney Cruises with Disney points before!!!

We had such a blast and we hope you will have a blast when you get to go too!

If you have already been- what was your favorite part of your trip? Do you have any tips to share with everyone else?

Have a magical time during your Very Merry Christmas Party celebrations at Walt Disney World! We can’t wait to go back 🙂

It sounds amazing!!! We are planning a Disney trip for December 2019, and it will be my husband and daughters’ (4&2) first times! I can’t wait!

Big question that I hope I didn’t miss in your post: How do I get tickets to the event? And do you know how early they go on sale? I want to be extra prepared!!

Monday 20th of August 2018

Great questions! I should have included those. I will edit to add them now. Jamie, it seems that the dates go up around March/ April of that year and the tickets are usually available then for later that year. So, if you're going in December 2019, I'd start keeping an eye on the site around March to see when the dates are available. Here's that site :
