DIY Natural Suncreen Ingredients:
¼ cup coconut oil (you can use any type of oil you’d like – I just happen to prefer the smell and feel of coconut)
1/4 cup shea butter
1 teaspoon carrot seed oil
2 tablespoons zinc oxide
2-3 drops of Sandalwood (Hawaiian) oil
- Melt the coconut oil and shea butter in a bowl over warm water.
- Add carrot seed oil and zinc oxide and combine.
- Add in the drops of Sandalwood essential oil and stir
- Place in a jar for storage. Allow to cool for 30 minutes in the refrigerator before application.
The bottom line: the sun is a natural source of vitamin D, but it also has the potential to cause skin cancer. If you have been relying on sunscreen for protection from harmful UV rays, it’s time to rethink your strategy and make this homemade option instead.
